The majority of students served by Special Education are participating in the resource delivery system of District #51 designed for those students who have a mild to moderate educational needs, as determined by a building staffing team in conjunction with parents.  An individually designed array of services may include:

  1. Consultation with regular teachers, administrators, and parents regarding instructional methods and/or materials
  2. Team teaching with regular educators in the classroom
  3. Tutoring students in or outside the regular classroom
  4. Direct individualized or small group instruction in the Resource classroom

The emphasis of resource intervention will include remedial and compensatory skills that foster growth in the areas of academics, affective domains, and occupational development with a goal of preparing the student for successful transition through school into adulthood.  Referrals must be reviewed through the school's RTI & Flex Teams.

A small portion of students with more significant support needs are serviced through the SSN delivery system.
